SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel Review & Giveaway!

Being a mother with a very active toddler in my house and an 11 month old learning to walk I am no stranger to scraps and cuts. My son nearly always has scraps on his knees so I was excited when I was asked to try out SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel.

The thing I loved right away about SAFESKIN is that it is a gel. My son is scared when I try to give or do anything to him but the one thing he doesn't mind is if I rub something on him. Since this is a gel it was very easy and he was very willing to let me use it. After two days there was a visible improvement in his knees and he wasn't scratching at them anymore. I also love that it is made by Kimberly-Clark which is a company that my family knows and trusts. Here are a few more of the benefits of SAFESKIN you can find on their website:

SAFESKIN* KIDS Antibacterial Gel is a long lasting protective barrier for applying to minor cuts, scrapes, burns and creates a barrier for MRSA — up to 48 hours!
 • Trusted by Hospitals
 • Barrier to MRSA
 • 48 Hour Antibacterial Protection
 • Made in the U.S.A.
 • Non-greasy for stronger bandage adhesion

This is a product I will make sure to always keep stocked in our medicine cabinet. SAFESKIN is available at select Walmart stores and right now you can get a coupon for $1.00 off by clicking on the link below!

But that's not all! One of my lucky readers will win one (1) tube of SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel. How awesome is that? Just enter in the rafflecopter below.

Winner will have 48 hours to respond or another winner will be chosen.

I received compensation from BSM Media in the form of a gift card and a product sample to participate in this campaign promoting the SAFESKIN Kids Antibacterial Gel.

Its My Birthday!!!

I can not believe it is my birthday today and I am turning 30. Yes, 30! I kind of don't think its that big of a deal but I am kind of said to be leaving my 20's. So much has happened in the last ten years. I got married, bought a house, had two wonderful little boys, and we also bought an investment condo. I am excited to see what the next 10 years have for me.

So now I will tell you my one birthday wish. I know its a bad omen, bad luck or whatever that it won't come true but I believe in the power of positive thinking and if you want it bad enough and do everything you can you can make anything happen. So....I want to win this contest that bodylogicmd.com has going on. I want to as they say "escape to the happiest place on earth". I would love to win to know that I could take my family on a vacation and not have to worry about the costs that go along with a vacation. Plus I honestly think this is a very realistic wish. So as I blow out my birthday candles I will be thinking of nothing but Disney!

A Little Secret About Me!

So when I was little I actually took piano lessons for a little while but I was not a fan of practicing. I did however love to teach myself songs I heard. Among those songs were mostly Disney songs and my absolute favorite song I taught myself to play was "A Whole New World" from Disney's Aladdin. I would sit at the piano for hours singing the song until I figured out which notes to play and eventually I got it. Not thaat it was a fancy version but still not bad if I don't say so myself.

You might even catch me singing a song from The Little Mermaid if I think I am all alone or in my car too lol.

My Halloween Costume

So I decided I am going to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid for Halloween this year. I am going to put on a shimmery green mermaid tail, dye my hair red, and wear a seashell bra. Just kidding! Am I too old to go trick or treating lol. I heard that Disney puts on a spooktacular event for Halloween during the month of October at Disney. I think it would be so much fun to experience something different or out of the ordinary at Disney such as a holiday, just because anything Disney doe is always over the top and magical.

Tips to Saving on Tickets to Disney

It can be very pricy for a family of four to spend a day at a Disney theme park. With prices around $80 a person that is over $300 plus parking and food. There are some things you can d though to help with that.

1. Go before you children turn 3 as anyone under 3 is free. I know they might be too young but if you have one child that is older you can always plan a trip right before your younger one turns 3 so you at least have to purchase one last ticket.

2. Plan the trip around someones birthday. You can get free admission on your birthday!

3. Listen to a timeshare. I know long and boring and I don't advise doing this at all unless you go in knowing you can say no to the timeshare salesman but hey you can usually get a few tickets this way maybe even four.

4. Do a goggle search for free Disney tickets. I did this and learned that Florida residents can get free admission for children up to age 5! When I have done this in the past they were offering a free ticket to anyone that volunteered time to any charity on their list. My sister took advantage of this for a free ticket.

These are just a few tips to help you save on tickets to Disney!

Why I Can't go to the Disney Store

I personally banned myself from going into the Disney Store. The thing is when I go in that store I just want to buy everything. I am sure Chris would love it if I did buy him everything. Especially when I go to the huge corner in the back which is labeled clearance. I literally want to get one of everything because it is just so cheap! The last time I went there they had jumbo stuffed cars characters for only $4! They also had Toy Story bobble heads for $2 and some of the die cast Cars characters for $2. I contained myself and walked out with nothing but I know I will be going back soon seeing that not only are the boys birthdays comin up in two months but is also almost time for Christmas!

FREE! Disney Planning DVD

This is an awesome freebie because whether you are planning a Disney vacation or not your kids will LOVE watching the planning DVD available here. If you are planning a Disney vacation then make sure you get it because it will show exactly what all the Disney theme parks and hotels have to offer. I am clueless when it comes to what options I have in this area and honestly didn't even realize how many options were available until I saw the DVD. So check it out like I said its FREE! Can't beat that :)

The New Cars Land at Disney Land

This summer a brand new attraction opened up at Disney Land. I have never ever been to Disney Land but if all things even if I had a choice between Disney Land or World I would choose Disney Land just so my boys could go to the Cars themed land. I have looked at pics online and posts from other bloggers and they have actually made a town to look exactly like Radiator Springs. My son Chris would just flip if he saw that. He had so much fun visiting Mater and Lightening McQueen on his last trip I could only imagine the look on his face if we took hm to Radiator Springs. So Sally and Lightening, hopefully we will be visiting you soon!

Disney Jr - Our Favorite TV Channel

Sometimes I feel guilty because yes, I use the television as a babysitter. But honestly I feel as though it is sometimes necessary. There are many days where it is just the kids and I since my husband goes out of town for work and I just need to do things like make dinner or prepare for the next day. An hour of television makes these tasks so much easier. I also love that if we are home alone it keeps the kids entertained while I am in the shower for ten minutes. I am picky about what I watch and I would say 99% of the time I turn it to Disney Jr. It has shows that are educational, entertaining, and age appropriate. I also love that they don't have commercials instead they show little skits like they will read a poem. Little Einsteins is one of my boys favorites. They participate in the entire show and I'll join in with them too!

My First Trip to Disney

One of my earliest memories as a child was going to Disney World when I was 4 years old. I kind of hold a gruge against my parents for this because although I had tons of fun, one day they decided to go to Epcot Center. They told me it was an adult theme park and were going to put me in daycare for the day. I am sure they meant the best at the time but no child wants to be at daycare in a strange place while their parents go hang out with Mickey, lol. So I went kicking and screaming into the daycare. Literally. Several of the daycare workers had to hold me just to keep me from escaping. I am sure once I calmed down I had a fun time at the daycare. My parents felt sooo bad about leaving me there and they showered me with presents when they picked me up. Yes we went to Epcot when I was older and it didn't seem like a grown up theme park but I also understand that my parents probably wanted a day to themselves.

Disney Mickey Food

One of the things I love about Disney is the amount of effort they put into the small details. From folding the towels to look like swans to waffles that look like Mickey. I think it is all of these little things that make a trip to Disney even more memorable and special. There are Mickey sandwiches, mickey ice cream, mickey waffles, mickey cookies...I mean you name it it probably comes in Mickey form. For someone that is not a huge Mickey fan this may be Mickey overload but to those looking to enjoy the entire experience you will be in Mickey heaven.

I Love Mickey Mouse!

I admit it...I absolutely love Mickey Mouse! I mean he is such a great pick me up always smiling and happy. He is always ready for an adventure and has the appropriate outfit for anything. I remember when I was little and I would watch that Mickey skit where he is cleaning and uses his magic hat to bring the brooms to life and before he knows it there are 100's of brooms dancing about. It was love from that day forward. I remember standing in line for 2 hours to wait to met him at Disney World and when it was my turn they switched to Donald Duck so what did my mom do, yup, we got back in line after meeting Donald and waited another 2 hours to see Mickey! Love you Mickey and hopefully I can visit you soon.

Disney on Ice-Treasure Trove!

So our night out to Disney on Ice started out horrible. For some reason my tickets weren't at will call and after 4 trips between will call and the media office in the rain I finally got our tickets. The ladies that work at Feld were super super nice and made sure I got my tickets to Disney on Ice. Our seats were fabulous! Not too close but not too far and Chris was able to see everything from his seat. He was sooo into it. He literally couldn't take his eyes off of the huge crocodile from Peter Pan, Goofy falling on the ice, and he roared when Simba came out. I was glad he was able to enjoy the show which was a fun experience for all of us. I can not wait until we go to another Disney on Ice.

Disney on Ice-Treasure Trove

So while I have been trying to win a trip to Disney all month I was able to win some tickets to Disney on Ice Treasure Trove. Honestly I think I am more excited about going then my son. Hey having kids gives you an excuse to do fun things! I am so excited as I haven't been to a show like this since I was little and I know my sister and mom are excited to be going as well. I have been telling my son all week that we are going to see Mickey and his response is "Minnie Mouse"! So at least he understands. Can't wait to tell you all about it tomorrow!

Why I love Disney World

I have to say I am biased. I have only been to Disney World so of course it is my favorite. It is not to far mind you it is easier to take a plane, but out of all the Disney parks it is the closest. I also love that it is near the beach so if you do plan a trip with your family you can spend 3-4 days at Disney and then 3-4 days at the beach. Don't get me wrong I would love to visit the Disney parks in California or Europe or even their gorgeous Polynesian resort in Hawaii but practicality and a sense of comfort make Walt Disney World my personal favorite.

Hoover TwinTank Steam Mop - Review

One of the things I loved about my home when I first bought it was the beautiful hardwood floors throughout the house. What I found out quickly was that I did not love cleaning them. With carpet you can just vacuum but with hardwood it requires sweeping and then mopping. This usually came down to me getting a bucket, water and cleaning the entire house on my hands and knees. NOT FUN!! I always felt my floors were not clean enough either, they just seemed grimy. With a dog, toddler and a husband tracking dirt in and out of the house I wanted something that would really clean and sanitize. Especially since I have a baby that is crawling around on the floor. I finally found something to get the job done! The Hoover TwinTank Steam Mop!

The number one thing I love about the steam mop is that I do not have to use harsh chemicals of any sort. (You can add the hoover cleaning solution if you want to) With the steam mop you can just add water and the steam sanitizes the floor. It also does a great job at removing all the visible dirt as well. My floor is splattered with dirt, and lots of milk spots from both the baby and the toddler and I could clearly see where the steam mop had cleaned.

I also love the simplicity of the steam mop. Just add water turn on and within minutes it is hot enough to create steam. When you are finished just empty out the unused water and let it air dry. The cleaning pads are great too. 'They were visibly dirty when I finished and after throwing them in the washer they came out looking new again.

I would highly recommend the Hoover TwinTank Steam mop to anyone with hardwood, tile, and even carpet-yes you can use it to steam clean your carpet too!

Gutzy Gear Review & Giveaway!!

I was recently given the opportunity to try, test, and share a cool new product called Gutzy Gear. It is a cool new product that allows kids to express their personal style while jazzing up their boring backpack straps at the same time. My thought was this is not only great for going to school but when traveling as well. By allowing your child to decorate their luggage straps with Gutzy Gear it is not only a fun activity but makes their bags easy to spot and keep track of.

There are over 50 different Gutzies that appeal to both boys and girls and they are super easy to change. My son had a really fun time taking them on and off and sharing them with all of his friends. They couldn't wait to get to Bed Bath & Beyond to see what other Gutzies were available. They are also very inexpensive. At a price of 4.99 for a 2 pack it makes them a great reward.

I would like to offer one of my readers a chance to try out Gutzy Gear Starter Set for themselves!! Please enter using the Rafflecopter form below:

EdenFantasys Review

I recently checked out a new website called EdenFantasys and I have to say they have some very cute lingerie. One item that caught my eyes was the "Oh so sweet cami and thong" , very cute. And lets just say that after having my second baby I want and need to feel cute!

Overview: Polka dot print crepe and stretch mesh cami with black mesh ruffle and bow contrast trim, princess seam shirring, hook and eye back closure and removable garter straps. Matching thong with black mesh ruffle contrast included.

Their lingerie is also very affordable. This set is only 34.99! I have paid more then that for just a bra. They also have a simple sizing method of small thru x-large as well as a variety of items in plus sizes as well. That is a huge plus as it is hard to find cute lingerie once you get into bigger sizes.

With Valentine's Day coming quickly it makes a great gift for both you and your man. So pick out something cute to surprise your significant other with this Valentine's Day!

Five Mom Inspired Driving Tips

Living in Chicago for nearly 30 years I have become very accustomed to the winter weather. Almost so much that I tend not to think about it and I can say I am not prepared at all. I admit I don't even have snow brush in my car. After what happened last year where hundreds of cars were trapped on Lake Shore Drive for hours I should be better prepared for anything even though I am in a big city. So here are 5 tips for not only you but me to follow:

1. Have proper winter equipment-snowbrush, ice scraper, small shovel are just some essentials. There have been times when I have even thrown the broom in my car because not only is it easier to brush the car off with but it is faster as well.

2. Keep an emergency winter kit in the car-extra blankets, snacks and bottles of water. Its probably a good idea to have snacks in the car anyways if you are a mom but even more so in the winter.

3. Keep a set of jumper cables in your car. Not savvy enough for jumper cables then there are also one time use jumpers that plud right into you cigarette lighter to get you going

4. Drive slowly and carefully. When it is snowing or sleeting go a little slower and take your time. It is easy to lose control when conditions are slick. My rule of thumb is to go with the flow of traffic so if everyone around me is going 20 miles an hour due to snow then so will I. Plus you want to make sure you keep a good distance between you and other cars. It is harder to stop in snow and ice and just because you may have 4 wheel drive and a snow plow the person next to you may have never driven in snow before.

5. My last tip is stay home! If weather conditions are bad and you don't have to go out then dont't. Especially if you have small children. It is hard enough traveling in the car with them on a regular day throw in a good snow storm and an extra two hours in the car and you have a tantrum waiting to happen.

Hopefully if I have not helped you to be a little more prepared and a little safer this winter season.

Nicholas-A Birthing Story

I can't believe that my little peanut is already two months old today. This time last year I wasn't even pregnant yet. I decided that before I blink and he is already 2 years old I wanted to take the time to write about the day he arrived and my experience the second time I gave birth. His older brother, Chris, is now over two years old and it is something I never took the time to do. I must warn you though, if you are not interested in the gory details of giving birth then stop reading now!

First off let me start by saying I am not the type of person that is into a home birth or doing it naturally. It is great that there are so many options, I personally like the comfort of being in a hospital environment with doctors, nurses, and all the proper equipment should something go wrong. I also like being as pain free as possible. Wimpy? I don't care

My labor and delivery was very planned out this time and I have to say I loved it. Once I reached 39 weeks (I was due November 30th, 2011) my doctor asked if I was ready to have the baby or if I wanted to wait. With all of the constant heartburn and horrible acid reflux I was thrilled to be able to have an induction. It was the day before Thanksgiving and the doctor said I could come in Thanksgiving night to start the induction process. I couldn't believe it! The day after Thanksgiving he would finally be here. It was nice being able to plan everything and also being able to pick a long weekend so no one would miss out.

After Thanksgiving dinner my husband and I left Chris with my parents for the weekend and checked into the hospital. They quickly checked me in and hooked me up to the monitors and checked to see how far dilated I was. I was at 2 cm when I checked in at 10pm. After monitoring me for 30 minutes they started the pitocin. We were having our baby! I wanted to make sure I got my epidural right away this time so as soon as I was at 3 cm they obliged. Let me say that getting an epidural before you are in severe pain is a million times easier. I did not feel one bit of pain whatsoever the entire time. The labor seemed to be moving very slowly but it was progressing. Every time they checked me I was a little more dilated.

Around 6am my mom and sister arrived. My best friend Arwen had been there a majority of the night and of course my hubby Josh was there the whole time as well How he slept I have no clue. I wanted everyone to be here this time and the doctor said they could all be present for the birth. The nurse had me walking around to help me progress faster. The doctor also came in to break my water and by 7 am I was at 7 cm. At 7:15 I started feeling lots of pressure and they checked me again and low and behold I was ready to push! I could barely wait for them to set up the urge to push was so strong. As everything was moving so fast they suddenly decided only two people could be in the room. Two! I wanted all 4! This is my birth not yours but there wasn't time to argue a baby was coming so my mom and sister graciously left and allowed my bff Arwen and of course my hubby to stay.

After the first push his head was practically out and the doctor asked if I wanted to touch it, um ewe, no thank you. I just wanted him out of me! Then the doctor seemed worried his head was really blue and the cord was tightening around his neck as he was coming out. Josh was really looking forward to cutting the cord but that was not going to happen as the doctor calmly said she would have to cut the cord immediately. Thankfully he was fine and with one more push he was out. My baby Nicholas William Klein had been born at 7:50 am and was a whopping 8 lbs 9 oz. As soon as he came out the doctor placed him on my belly, again ewe, but also an incredible moment at the same time. The first moment you get to hold the little baby you have been carrying inside of you for the past 10 months is one of the most amazing moments ever.

You will always be my baby, I love you Nicholas <3
